Commodore does a fairly decent job, They build a decent home, I think that you can be well served buying from them.
But you can do better if you want at about the same price.

I'm in North Carolina, looking for something very sturdy and affordable, with a 9 ft ceiling option and a hardiplank siding option as well. Any ideas- so far, I'm considering Nationwide (a little pricey), Palm Harbor Discovery Homes (aren't getting back to me with a price), Commodore homes.

thanks,

Stephanie

I am also considering a Genesis ranch as recommended below by Scott... but our budget is pretty small, so the sf must be under 1600 feet, most likely

Out of all you mentioned, Genesis is the best, maybe a little more upfront, but it will pay for itself in the long run.
Palm harbor does a good job as well.
