Hey guys, I am considering a new Mobile Home from Champion Homes of Tennessee. Has anyone had any experiences with them, and are they of good quality?

I am looking for one with Cedar Log siding, which Champion Homes provide, and the homes I have looked at look really like high quality homes.

Any info is appreciated.

Maybe they have changed, but I bought a champion mobile home in 1982 and it was crap. the corners all leaked, because they didn't put siding under the trim that also rotted off. Take a mirrior and check inside the duct work (of a floor vent). If it looks like it was done right and not like they used a can opener to install the floor vent then, it might be OK to buy from them. I use this trick, to see how fast they slapped it together.

Please check and see how the home is built-example-2x6 exterior walls-2x4 interior walls-3/4 inch plywood floors, wood cabinets. You would also be ahead to buy one or 2 of the books on this site about purchasing a mobile home. Do yourself a fovor and check out Palm Harbor homes before purchasing a Champion.

if you are talking about the plant in Henry TN, then run, don't walk, the other way!!!!!
Bad, bad news!
I have been there, many times, don't want to go back!

If you don't mind me asking, what was wrong with the plant in Henry? And does anyone have any other recommendations. Palm Harbor is out of the question, because we don't like their homes, and because I can't seem to find one that has log siding. That is the main thing we want, is log siding, and drywall interior.

I just posted in one of these forums....

we purchased a Champion home in NC not even 5 years ago and I keep having the WORST water/plumbing related problems - with pipes breaking in teh walls --- etc. You can go read the post, it is under my name.

The best manufactured home builder is Guerdon, period. They have a cabin style it is very nice. Check out www.guerdon.com
