Cavco Homes
Cavco Homes
I would like to hear from Cavco home owners. Are you happy or not? I'm looking in southern California.
Re: Cavco Homes
Tom,
E-mail me directly and I will give you my dealer name and info. He sells Cavco and Palm Harbor homes in southern Calif.
I am in Lancaster and have been working with this dealer for about 6 months. We will be ordering a PH home in a couple of weeks.
We did a cost comparision between Cavco and PH and after outfitting the houses the same options with the same floor plans, the PH home ended up being a better deal.

Re: Cavco Homes
I ordered a Cavco from a reputable dealer. The only issue we are having is that when we started we were told about 6 weeks to get our home. Now, we are being told 21 weeks due to the backlog of orders with the fires.
We are disappointed, but are waiting patiently for our home. If you have been taking six months to decide (like we did) please have your dealer rewrite everything. Cavco came up with some 'new' fees during our decision and information gathering period. Our price has risen about 2500 dollars.
We started this process in February, had the plans finalized in June and when we signed docs and turned over our downpayment, the response from Cavco to our dealer was the increased fees.

Re: Cavco Homes
Prices of homes are always increasing..even at a low inflation rate of 3%..the average home increases by over $1000 in 6 months...the last 8 months have found all types of homes..manufactured..modular..stick built..increasing in price by about 10% because of the rapidly increasing cost of building materials...
This is one good reason to move along quickly..time is only going to cost more money..

Re: Cavco Homes
I worked on Cavco homes as a finisher after they were put on the property. The ones we worked on were not upgraded. I thought the carpet was cheap. The 'glass' block in the bath was actually plastic. The tile is fakey looking, the texture is kind of a photograph put on tile. The sheetrock needed a lot of touch up after delivery. The cabinets were kind of a fake wood veneer over plastic that came off real easy when tape was pulled off it. The house itself seemed structurally fine, but the finishings seemed really cheap. I'm actually looking into manufactured, but a stripped down version that I put my own cabinets, tile, etc. in.
