fireplace
Am still exploring buying this Palm Harbor home. I am now looking at an optional fireplace. PH only does wood burning, (it has to do with transporting gas) but they will stub it for gas. My question is since I will convert this fireplace to gas once it gets here, am I better off just leaving the fireplace out completely and purchasing my own later. Is it to my advantage not to have the hole in the roof for the flue if I don't intend to use it, as I understand gas is not vented through the roof?
Re: fireplace
Interesting question...there are 2 types of gas logs..vented..which do vent through the roof..and ventless..which do not need to be vented..
I have been out checking out new stick builts for some market reasearch...the trend seems to be to electric fireplaces..some even with sound..as well as fake firelog pictures.....Saw many of them...no chimney either..
I cannot wait to see others opinions on this....The chimney is pretty ugly..

Re: fireplace
If you thought you might later burn wood, you could take the fireplace as it is, and convert it to gas after the fact. One ot the things I loved about my old suburban house was its real brick hearth and fireplace. They are very hard to find now, due to air pollution regulations.
Re: fireplace
You can have palm harbour stub up for gas and then check on the internet for under gas fireplaces. There is a large selection and information provided.
