window replacement

Has anybody ever replaced windows in their manuf home, higher than the original windows?

I know for structural issues during delivery the windows are placed lower, but after the fact, I thought this may be possible. Inside there's a good foot of space and was wondering if directly above the windows is where the main structure of the roof section is or if there's space to go further up.

I have replaced all of my windows with double pane white metal frames. It was quite some time ago, but as I remember, there are normal headers above the windows, as in a 4X4, or two 2x4 on edge. I didn't raise my window height but I did install some wider windows. If you just follow the normal rule of construction you should be ok.If your exterior walls are 2x6 then use 4x6 headers, if they are 2x4 walls, use 4x4 headers. Im an not a contractor or anything like that, so this is just info you can do what you wish with it. Made a big difference in keeping the house more efficient. I also replaced the old metal siding with compressed fiberboard siding ....
