Closing a park - Relocation

Post by Pfreddy » Sun Sep 21, 2003 2:07 am

There's been many rumours floating around the in our park about it being shutdown and redeveloped for a retail shopping center. I'm not sure what to expect if this was ever to happen. Would the park owners, or the homeowners have to pay for relocation? I'm not sure where we'd go. Our home is a 1974 model, and I don't think another park would accept a home that old. We're in California.

Boy...this is scary for you....there are a few good resources that you can access....

This archive of information is slanted toward CA and has some info on the problem you might be facings...There are also good articles here on Home owners Associations and converting parks to resident owned locations...

http://www.manhousingfoundation.org/

Remember..they could never do this unless the local government allows the zoning change...so getting to know your local pols as a group of residents will never hurt...

Your state has a web site dealing with all the laws concerning manufactured home parks...You should spend some time there and get very familiar with the laws...and your rights...find it here..
