Val:
Most producers of manufactured homes offer energy efficient options for their home lines. Homes built to similar insulating R-factors provide similar energy efficiency. When you find a particular home or a particular line of homes in which you have an interest, keep in mind that windows, doors, insulation and other items can be modified to increase energy efficiency. Ask your retailer about energy saving packages available for the product lines they carry.
There may be differences in the R-factor ratings of the various components, though. For instance, some energy efficient exterior doors provide an R-11 rating while others may be less. (The higher the R-factor the better the insulating quality. For example, a rating of R-11 is better than a R-5 rating.) Still, for most areas of the country the energy saving package offered by producers that have similar overall R-factor ratings would be expected to perform about the same despite some component variations. Therefore, naming one producer over another in this regard would probably be a disservice.
Good luck. Jon.
