Shamrock Homes
Shamrock Homes
I would appreciate any information about the quality and customer service reputation of Shamrock Homes of Plymouth, Ind. We have heard (all from Sales persons) that they build a quality home . I would like to hear from someone who owns a Shamrock and the good and bad about the Shamrocks. Thank you
Re: Shamrock Homes
I am not an owner....nor was I familier with the home before my trip to thier web site...
WOW...this is a real home...The most basic homes knocks the socks off almost any other home you will find...The Residential Series is truely delux...
The items they mention as construction features is the highest available anywhere...The customization they offer seems extensive...My guess these are fairly expensive...but for the long term this should not matter..
Only 3 things I see that they may offer as options that could make them nicer..
1) seamless cielings...this is where the set up crew adds a piece to the maggage area and textures it,,,Then there is no obvious marrage beam...
2)..The appliances seem a little low quality for this type of home...maybe they have an upgrade option..
3)..They finsh the sheetrock with a "smooth" finish...This is a primer coat over raw sheet rock....I personally like taped and textured treatment...They do mention that they would sell the home blue nailed for finish on site...This is really only a personal choice...not a basic quality question..
This company is obviously a family owned outfir that has been in business since 1969...I have often said that some of the best product comes from locally owned manufacturers....Profit is in everybodies mind...but the focus of the company is not stock price...Family pride is a big part of what companies like this do...
It is also very nice that this company offers a true handicapped accessable version..Very rare in the business..
The only question you will have is the dealer...I assume most dealers that handle this product are locally owned also....The best to buy from...I would be sure the dealer has handled this home for a while...a couple of years at least...that way you know they have lots of experience with this sort of high end product..
Good Luck...I seems that you have found a winner..

When all else fails, do the "dot com" dance in searching for a web site.

Re: Shamrock Homes
I'm sorry Murray. I failed to tell everyone that we have been to Shamrock's website and have even talked in person to Tom Flynn (one of the family owners) at an open house for Medallion Home Sales in South Lyon, Michigan.....All of our knowlege is basically from sales pitches...They brag that they are the only manufacturer with a Ducted Cold Air Return System. We walked through one model, and took our time (45 minutes), without a salesperson following us all around, and examined everything we could possibly see., and took extensive notes....and..... were very impressed with the quality .....we are very serious about the Shamrock....I just need to round out my knowlege with someone who personally owns one....My husband and I are going to Plymouth, IN for a plant tour very soon....They are quite a bit more expensive than say for instance, Hart Homes (which we like also). I just hope they back up their bragging with quality service. Thank you all for replying... Therese
Re: Shamrock Homes
From my experience selling top of the line product from smaller quality manufacturers....service is good but hardly necessary...If the home is set properly, it is unlikely you will ever need any service...or if you do it will be for very minor items...
Almost all of the complaints you see are from high volumn middle or lower priced homes...where attention to detail is lacking and reputation is not an issue...Price is...
You might ask the dealer that you like for references of previous customers with this product line...The plant should be able to offer a reference or 2 as well...
The info about the air return is true...I was particularly impressed with the HAND nailed siding...

When I go to shamrockhomes.com, it brings up a site-home builder in Florida.

Therese:
We have had experience with Shamrock Homes, and we've sold several of them. Overall, they build a solid home but they do tend to be pricey. If you seek a well-built home at a reasonable price, look at their standard floor plans and go easy on the optional features.
Another reason to look at Shamrock is their willingness to customize. Last year we had a custom home delivered with a 5/12 roof that was the talk of the town. Truly eye-catching. But if a custom-built manufactured home sounds attractive to you, make sure you get a price quote before you order---they can cost quite a bit more than you might think.
The only word of caution I can give is to be careful on delivery of the home. Inspect the home thoroughly. Every once in a while their quality inspector seems to "fall asleep at the switch," which can result in inexplicable errors ... such as a pipe that runs into a door, or a washing machine water tap being buried in a wall. Of course, they do rectify the problems---but only if they are reported. So keep your eyes open, take notes and report any deficiency before delivery is accepted.
Other than that, Shamrock has produced several "crowd pleasers" for us and hopefully they will do the same for you too. Good luck.
