Experience with Palm Harbor homes?

Post by anneliesefreborg » Thu May 19, 2016 10:37 am

Hi, husband and I are looking to purchase a new Palm Harbor home in Oregon but wanted to hear about people's experiences with them - good or bad (but hopefully good). We will be doing a 30 year mortgage and permanently anchoring it to land so can't afford to just tear it down and start over in 5 years if it falls apart! Thanks in advance for any advice/comments.

F.Y.I. about Palm Harbor........

Stay away from Palm Harbor. You will be sorry. You can take that to the bank.

Brother's Palm Harbor:

1. Called him up one time. Was upset. His dryer could not keep up with the

wet towels he had place on the window sills. Leaks!

2. His roof leaked around the skylights.

3. His siding on the back was poorly installed.

4. His bay window/jutt out leaks and the roof over the bay window leaks.

Has provided a great home for the hornets and wasps.

My Palm Harbor:

1. Roof replaced last year. Lasted 9 years.

2. Siding is going also....spongy on the bottom. Do we see a trend here???

3. Kitchen island (have removed during remodeling) was not squared to

the kitchen walls. How hard is it to pull a 90 off a wall?

4. No more.....for the sake of brevity I'm stopping

In short, do not buy a mobile home. They:

A) Use poor materials.

B) Are slapped together.

C) Depreciate.

D) You will pay more for interest on the loan.

E) Guarantee....you will pay more for insurance.

F) In short, you will regret buying a mobile home.

Be forewarned. You WILL REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!!
