New Home Problems- HELP
Re: New Home Problems- HELP
It's very sad if dealers are misrepsenting manufactured home designs which are not in sync with state requirements. That's like a dealership selling you a new car and telling you "Heck...you don't need seat belts in these things...we'll have the factory make it without 'em", or a realtor selling you a newly-built house and telling you it's not problem to have it built without smoke detectors.
Okay, maybe people should know better, but most of us put our trust in these licensed dealers believing that they know their stuff. There's something ethically wrong when said dealer puts what the customer wants to hear over what's legally plausable. What's more, if the dealer knows they can lie all they want, and there's nothing you can or will do about it because you're afraid to hold them to their word, what's to stop them from doing the same thing to the next person who walks through the door?
Legal action is only an option I suggested. There are certainly other courses of action which are less costly and may achieve quicker results, but as someone who's been a little too trusting in my own circumstances, I'm all for holding people accountable to their word, especially if that word is on a written, signed contract. Unfortunately, any contract, like any law, is basically worthless unless it's enforced, and enforcing a violated contract sometimes (NOT always, but sometimes) requires attorneys, courts, and all that messy stuff. To put it another way, if the posted speed in a neighborhood is 25, but everyone drives 70, and there's no cop to pull anyone over, what good is the speed limit sign to begin with?

Re: New Home Problems- HELP
Thank you David for the info regarding the agency, I might need it later. However, I think you are correct in regard to the vent in the kitchen. I am going to give them a chance to work things out.
Anyway, I really like the seller I've been working with and know it wasn't her fault that my bathrooms were not the way we planned them. We work on that floor plan together, it was the factory's. Thanks again.

Melvin (rmurray)
Shower:
I didn't ask for the faucets to be the opposite side of the shower. I just want the faucets + shower head to be on the same side as the toilet so that I could get in at the point where the water is at it's lowest, not into the harder stream. That's all I wanted for my shower.
Anyway, I just want to thank you and everyone for all the information and advise.

Re: New Home Problems- HELP
I am sorry. for the miss understanding...but again..your salesperson should have known that the plumbing diagram is part of the HUD approval and must be reapproved for this kind of change...
Candidly...my experience over many years with scores of special ordered homes...tells me the retail sales person made the mistakes...Seldom does a plant...All plants send the dealer an order confirmation and print if there are changes..Mistakes happen when they are not reviewed properly...Always the homes are built to the confirmation...The few times (I mean very few times) that I have had a factory mistake and the home was built different than the confirmation....They have always made the corrections or changes to live up to the order..

THANKS RMURRY
I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR ADVISE AND HELP. I KNOW THESE ARE MINOR THINGS BUT YOU KNOW I JUST WANT TO GET MY MONEY'S WORTH (WHICH COSTED A PRETTY PENNY) AND BE HAPPY AT THE SAME TIME. I KNOW I CAN LIVE WITH THE DRAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF ONE TUB (NO BIG DEAL) AS WELL AS WITH THE SHOWER HEAD & FAUCETS OPPOSITE THE TOILOT.
LET ME ASK YOU ANOTHER QUESTION:
1). CLOSETS; IS THERE SUPPOSE TO BE A LITTLE
CRACKING BETWEEN THE SHELF AND THE CLOSET
WALL. THIS DIDN'T LOOK RIGHT TO ME, IT LOOKED KIND OF SHABBY/MESSY/UGLY.

Re: New Home Problems- HELP
I am not familier with the SilverCrest and the attention to detail they give to this type of item...Most of the home we sell have Rubber Maid brand shelving and are not like yours..
I would go on the sales center and see if all of the models are similar..If not, I would ask that they be corrected..Good Luck

Re: New Home Problems- HELP
I'm buying a Homestead home, and the drain is in the middle of the tub on the 2nd bath. It most certainly DOES look stupid, but it's no big issue. I'm guessing it's a standard tub in the industry these days?
