manufactured home builders in Florida
Re: Seniors preferred options
Go to fleetwood's web site, that will explain the difference. That series is not only for seniors but also the disabled persons. Wide doors, wheelchair accessable showers, appliances lowered to sit down level, etc.
Re: Seniors preferred options
I went to the Lake city plant. Did you look at the wall electrical recepticals? They are the cheapest I have seen anywhere and I have seen several. The work in several areas was really shoddy. The gentleman I talked to admitted the "name of the game is money".
$100,000 mobile home?
I didnt even know they made a $100K manufactured home, and they wanted 25K for a set-up fee??
Re: $100,000 mobile home?
Kimmy,
Come to California. $100,000 MH and $25K setup sounds very reasonable.

Re: $100,000 mobile home?
Just out of curiousity who were you dealing with? A Palm Harbor dealer, community or directly with the factory Model Center. What exactly was the breakdown of the $25,000 of "set up" costs?
Re: $100,000 mobile home?
I tied to deal with the factory rep, on site at the model center. Two diferent ones as a matter of fact. The setup fee covers a number of things including foundation, lot prep, etc. We wanted to do most of those things ourselves but could never get to that point in our negotations. They would never call me; I had to always call them. I waited months for responses to my proposed custom changes and they put me off to take care of everybody else. Because they knew we were not building right away. However, I wanted to have all my plans made so when we were ready we could just go ahead with it. I don't believe in waiting til the last minute. If you havn't seen any MH for $100,000, maybe you are looking for something diffrent.
Re: $100,000 mobile home?
Feature for feature Palm Harbor is no more money than a comparable brand. They offer a variety of series that allow you to take almost all of their popular floorplans down to a lower pricepoint without sacrificing key quality elements standard in all Florida built Palm Harbors like 3/4" tongue and groove plywood floors on 2x8 floor joists and ceramic tile floors in wet areas. The best place to shop for variety and price is the Plant City Model Center. (24 furnished and decorated models) 800-729-4363
Re: $100,000 mobile home?
Though my mother does own a MH in Florida, this is more to tell you my experience and oppinions with Fleetwood Homes. They are junk! They do have a low and high end as all do, but even the high end is not quality. Being in this biz for years, I've seen and sold them all. Schult may be my fav. as far as quality and price. I too have sold PH, and think they are a good product, very accomidating as far as customizing goes. Rochester is also a good product (boca only) as is Crest. Skylinehig end is not bad, and usually a good price tag to go with it.
Re: $100,000 mobile home?
As I said in an earlier post I've sold and lived in a MH for many years. I've never seen a MH with a tag of 100, 000. High eighties, that would give you a Boca, over 2000 sq. All the bells and whistles. Also, the reason they may not be jumping t help you is this and I do know this well from experience!
Many, many people come through the door aily, have you work your butt off, saying they plan to do this "down the road" takes quite a bit of time to PO a home...... and then you never hear from them, and they don't return calls. And, I am not an overly pushy Salesperson. This is a huge problem in any avenue of Sales. And, in my opinion you just get to the point where you see how many "deals" you've lost while wrking on th one who is not even a serious buyer. I'm not saying your not, but perhaps they may think so.

Re: $100,000 mobile home?
Just afew of the things would be grab bars in th bathroom, wider doors and hallways to accomidate a wheelchair if needed Senior options are normally the same as Handicapped.
