Is There A Michigan Mobile Home Owners Group
I'm looking for mobile home owners support/information sources familiar with combating unfair park practices in Macomb County, Michigan. Any & all help will be very much appreciated.

Re: Is There A Michigan Mobile Home Owners Group
I have a question in regard to manufactured home operation in Macomb County, Michigan also.
We have lived in this community for over a year. We do rent, we do pay site rent.
Apparently, the community lost the property and a new management company took over.
We are being told that the owner wishes to use the property for other purposes on one hand, and that they no longer wish to have renters on the other. We have received no formal notice to this date, but the office is "suggesting" that we vacate before September 30, 2009.
Do we have any rights? Apparently they knew about this when we renewed our lease, which was then changed to a month-to-month contract. When we signed the original agreement and signed a 1-year-lease,we signed with the agreement that our contract would be on a rent-to-own basis and a portion would be provided as our down payment. Of course, this contract is void with the foreclosure of the property (the company still runs profitably in Chicago) and we are stuck.
Any information that you can provide would be most appreciated.
Sincerely,

Re: Is There A Michigan Mobile Home Owners Group
I guess I need to reword my previous post. We live in Michigan (Macomb County) and are currently renting (with option to buy as original contract should have stated). Apparently, the owner who is going strong in another state has lost this property. We were NOT formally given notice, however, a couple of days ago it was suggested that we vacate our home before 09/30/2009. Apparently the management knew in February when we signed a new month-to-month lease (new protocol, we were told) but nothing was mentioned.
Do we have a right to be notified? Or will we be homeless if we cannot secure housing before this date?
Please help. Thank you.

The laws in each state are different. I don’t think there is any state where you can be evicted legally with out some process that would include legal notice and a reasonable time frame for you to relocate your home, if you have equity ion the home. Some states even require park owners to pay for part of all of a move. Start by re-reading your rental agreement to see what if any clauses there are that might cover the possibility of the landlord requesting you to move your home. If you resigned in Februalry you better take a close look at what you signed and see if you may have signed away your right to the option to buy.You may very well need some legal assistance.
