1979 Gallatin Mobile Home

Post by kimdennison » Mon Jan 12, 2009 1:49 pm

I found a 1979 Gallatin on a beautiful piece of property. I looked up the manufacturer "Gallatin" but can not find anything about them. Are they still in existence? How do they compare to other builders? Any web site suggestions?

The NADA Manufactured Housing Valuation Book shows Gallatin Homes as a builder that is no longer in business. I have never heard of them before and cant find anything about them on the web or my other sources

If you think the home suites your needs hire a licensed home inspector to give you a full report on its "soundness" It is an older home and I would pay particular attention to the foundation system and the mechanicals (electric and plumbing).

Some of those older homes were built like tanks. We see a lot of older 70's vintage homes here in Florida that have been in continuous service They may not be a beautiful as the newer homes but still have a lot of useful years in them. The value on the home comes from location and condition. A full appraisal would be in order if you are concerned about the price vs. value of the home and land.

You can get an economical valuation of the average re-sale price of that year and make "home alone" for your part of the country at https://ssl.xpr.com/mfdhousing/mhcredit/value.php
