My job has ended, so I am taking retirement. I can no longer afford rent. I already have some land, and I have been looking at house plans for a month to build my own house. I thought I could do it fairly cheaply, but have found that most materials are much more expensive than I anticipated. Even building a 30 X 40 house is a bit more expensive than I thought it would be starting out...and this is with my labor contributed.
I was wondering if now is a good time to find a used or repossessed mobile home and move to my acreage? Does this ever work out for anyone?
Any suggestions for me?

Yes, there is a big market for used homes..there are far more used homes sold than new..
Moving costs can be very high though...but most used home dealers price homes delivered and set...There is a good supply of used homes in Texas...This web site has great resources to help in your search..One of the partners who make this site possible can be found here..It looks like this company might be part of Clayton Homes, if it is they will have tons of home in Texas...
Go here
http://www.mobilehomesexpress.com/
Do not miss the manufactured home MLS...There are currently 116 homes listed in TX..Most of these would have to be moved..
Good Luck in your quest....
