initial electrical hookup
initial electrical hookup
My home is total electric, but MH park tells me service needs to be changed (updated) to allow for 200 amps. What, EXACTLY, must be done? What is a reasonable price range?
Re: initial electrical hookup
As a licensed electrician in my state, I would advise you to call a 2 or 3 electrical contractors and have them provide you an estimate for making the changes your park management is requesting. Most contractors offer FREE estimates. In selecting the electricians to call use friend recommendations or use your yellow pages under contractors-electrical. It is very difficult to estimate this electrical work without seeing the job site and reveiwing what is needed.
If I were you, I would ask park management why you need to upgrade your electrical service. (You may already know this.) If park, in partnership with local electric utility, is running new service to each of the parks lots, then they MAY be talking about you upgrading the weather proof electric panel or disconnect just below the meter base. If this is the situation, then check with your local inspection department (city or county) and ask the electrical inspector whose responsibility it is to provide these items for MH parks in the area. In some jurisdictions, this is the MH parks responsibility, financially. If this is NOT the park reason, please IGNORE this advice.
I offer the above only as suggestions and not as legal or financial advice. Please tread softly with Park managment on this issue. Be sure of all your facts, before challenging the landlord over this issue.
