Just purchased a 1985 Kaufman Roberts DW. Realized neither tub has a mechanical drain stopper. Is this because MHs are not designed to handle the weight in one location. The Guest bathroom tub, located along a side is a little undersized. The master tub is at a rear corner & somewhat oversized. Think about the weight of the water and 1 or 2 people.
Should we ignore the issue and just enjoy?
No Tub Stopper
Re: No Tub Stopper
Jeez..what do you think you bought...A balsa wood home.....It is not that fragile..only has the cheap plumbing fixtures.....Get a stopper from the hardware store..and use it with confidence that the home is not going to be damaged....Try to avoid splashing when there are two folks in the full tub....Kaufman and Broad was one of the better home in 86....
Re: No Tub Stopper
The danger of drowning in the tub is significantly higher than structural damage. Choose your splash partners wisely...
Re: No Tub Stopper
Thanks guys. Realizes I said Kaufman and Roberts, not Kaufman and Broad. Kaufman and Roberts was an appliance chain in Florida where I'm from.
Surprised at your comment about K & B being a well built home. Seems I read in my research that the company had many problems.

Re: No Tub Stopper
I sold K&B in Florida during this time frame...They had more than 1 plant in GA...The plant in the Tampa Bay area built a good home but the Ocala plant was somewhat basic....
Do not use too much bubble bath...Have fun...

No tub stopper
I have lived in mobiel and mod homes for 25 years. havne't seen one with a mechanicla stopper. One thing peopld have to understand is that the newer homes are structurally sound but the iminities in them are very inexpensive...this the lower than site built price. Mobile homes in general are created for living without a lot of luxury. They are getting better though.. Have fun in the tub

Re: No tub stopper
Oops. Went with my lady's word. Should have checked myself. The oversized tub does have a mechanical stopper, it's the type you step on to close. The regular tub uses a rubber stopper. Plan to initiale the oversize this weekend.
Thaks for the comments.
