Purchase of new home

Post by Kathy Snyder » Wed Aug 03, 2005 12:19 pm

My husband and I are relocating to Washington state next spring and are looking into purchasing a manufactured home. We have friends who have homes built by Marlette but we understand they are out of business. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good builder?

You may want to consider Fuqua homes. They are based out west - I believe in Washington. Now I have not seen them personally, but they are kind of the "industry darlings". They make beautiful looking homes( the Lodge series makes me lust with envy!). I work with someone who used to be a Sales Manager in the industry who has seen Fuqua models in person, he said by far they were the most impressive mobile homes he ever saw. Fuqua has a good website if you do a search for fuqua, you will easily find them. Good luck with you move.

In your area, Karsten, Fuqua, Silvercrest, Homebuilders Northwest all seem to be well made. Fuqua is a bit more expensive for what you get (bit of eye candy). We ended up going with Karsten and the home has been great for the last three years since we got it.

I would add Palm Harbor to the list. They have several nice standard features, such as OSB floor decking (instead of particlegoard) and a longer warranty.
