Washing outside of home

Post by Mary » Mon Sep 19, 2005 8:25 pm

I am wondering if one could wash the outside of the home (a double wide with what I think is vinyl siding) with a bucket, Simple Green, a deck brush, and a garden hose.

I think I read somewhere in these forums that a woman in Kentucky does this every year, but I can't find the posting.

Does anyone have any advice on this? My son is willing to help me, and we'd take it pretty slow..... I am a bit afraid of power washing and wrecking something, and I can't really afford to hire a power washer person.

Unless you have an oil substance on the siding there is no need to use simple green. A good detergent will work just as well and will save you money. There is nothing wrong with washing down you house by hand and you would only need a power washer if you had some areas that you couldn't get clean with a brush. A power washer is great but they can break seals in windows if used incorrectly so by hand is a good idea.
