Palm Harbor Platinum Home from Austin TX Plant

I'm looking at purchasing a Palm Harbor Platinum Home. It will be coming from the Austin, TX plant. The platinum home is, of course, their high end house.

I looked at the House Smart homes since they are of comparible price. I visited the sales centers in Ft. Worth and Tulsa. I really liked the floor plans, but the fit and finish of thier models didn't compare with Palm Harbors. For this reason and all of the posts concerning service, I have generally ruled them out.

Are there other homes I should be looking at in this area and in the same price range? Has anyone had any problems with Palm Harbor homes or service that they would like to mention? Does the Austin Plant offer good quality craftmanship compared to thier other plants?

Any information, suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Ralph, Take a look at the Solitaire homes and compare it to Palm Harbor. Solitaire uses the grid work in the floors and ceilings and plywood floor and your home is wrapped in plywood to the studs and the siding is applied over the plywood giving the home a solid bond. The home is completely tape and textured and they use architectural shingles and a new osb grove siding better than the maysonite. Take another look at another company by the name of Karsten homes of Albuquerque, New Mexico, this company is very reliable and builds some of the finest homes in the industry. They never forget their customers after the sale. Their homes are completely tape and textured and use one of the finest building material in the industry. If you like a rock tile floor in the kitchen and counter tops they can do that at the factory and ship your home like that. They use 12" massive steel to support your homes weight. Just like the Lancer Homes did back in the 80's. Good luck

Ive seen Palm Harbor,but before you by please look at a Franklin Home. I think you will be impressed.
