moving a 28X60 doublewide

Post by LT » Tue Apr 20, 2004 10:09 am

I financed a manufactured home for my parents in 1996 in KY. The home is on my land at present. Both of my parents died in 2000. I have been going down to KY for a week or two since then otherwise no one is there. I would like to move the home to MD to a manufactured home park but can not find any information on the cost. I currently live in an apartment and felt that the move would quickly offset what I am paying now on the home lien and utilities plus the apartment rent and utilities. I have no desire to live in KY. Does anyone have an idea of what it would cost to move it? Thank you

Jon

LT:
While prices vary in different parts of the country, in this area (Long Island) such an undertaking might be expected to cost between $9,000 and $12,000. This would be for the separation of the sections, preparing each section for road travel, transportation and set-up at the new location. Of course, this assumes no complications and no extra tasks like carports, patio awnings, etc.
Costs aside, finding a competent firm to do the work could be the real challenge.

This would be an expensive proposition...you have not mentioned if this home is a single or double..

To move a single this far might cost as much as $5000...a double section as much as $15,000...Have you considered renting or selling the home??????

Assuming of course it is paid for, It would be cheaper to move the home, although probably a HUGE headache. Wear and tear on the house, shipping, putting it back together and most likely no warranty left on leveling, etc. and your new site prep. Much cheaper, but everybody is about in the right price range.
