Out with the old, in with the new

Post by Deborah » Thu Mar 18, 2004 4:56 pm

I've just purchased a new home (dbl. wide) and it should be delivered within the next month. I'm having my existing home (dbl. wide) moved out and the new home placed in the same spot on my property. The dealer says he'll move the old one out for the home (it's not worth selling). My plan is to have the old home pulled to the side of the property and left there for a few days before it is hauled-off to give me time to transfer my belongings to the new home. In preparation for the transaction, I've had the septic pumped and certified and have applied for a permit with the health department. I've been told I have to obtain a development permit from the building department. It's my understanding that everything but the electrical hook-up will be included in the set up of the new home, so I'll have to hire an electrician for that. Never having gone through this before, I'm not sure what to expect. Is it going to be the absolute nightmare that I am anticipating? If you've gone through this and have any tips, info or suggestions, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you!

Thanks!

Deborah

Most improtant...expect delays....they will happen..

A good set up that is complete to final acceptance can easily take 2 weeks...expect to be home less for all of this time...

Good Luck with your new home..

I don't mean to sound like a smart a_ _ Mr. Murray, this is a real question. How do you know so much about all of this stuff? I'm asking because I've read allot of your replies and we are in a nightmare (state DCED, Attornry General, attorney, etc.) with our home. I done allot of research and am trying my best to find a way to get in touch with customers that are in the same situation as we are. (with the same dealer, we know there are allot of them but I am trting to figure out how to legally post info to get in touch with them)
I have done allot of work trying to get what we paid for and I know that there are allot of people who don't realize they don't deserve to be treated like dirt. Any suggestions?
