carpet seams

Post by Lynne Stewart » Fri Mar 28, 2003 1:05 pm

There appears to a be a seam in the carpet that runs through the living room and dinning room. This seam runs the length of the house about two feet out from the nearest wall. The seams has become notivble as we live there longer, though I didn't start noticing it until about two weeks ago. Does this seem like a right place for two carpet pieces to join? I can't understand why it wouldn't just go the full length of the room and butt up against hte wall rather hten two feet short?

Seems a little unusual...but possible...
You did no say if you bought the home new or used...
If used...the previous owner replaced the carpet with 12 wide carpet in the 14 foot room...thus they had to add 2 foot the whole length of the room...
This might be possible even in a new home...but would be very unusual..Most factories only offer the correct width carpet in their group of offerings...

With time all carpet seams will show...

This is a new PH. I saw the roll in my living room and a piece of paper with how to install it and cut for each room but didn't pay any attention to the width of the carpet.
I expected carpet seams in some places, but not in the middle of two very visible rooms ;)

This would be odd indeed...It would be very unusual for a quality manufacturer to supply the wrong size carpet....Sounds like you had a rookie installer....Best I can suggest is to talk to the dealer service department...Hope they will stand by the workmanship of their contractors...

Good Luck
