Our local tv station ran an ad regarding manufactured homes from 1978 thru 1995 stating that all plumbing is to be replaced free of charge due to the fact of a shortage or non-existant replacement parts. I didn't get the telephone number of the company or entity runing the ad. Does anyone know anything about this matter?
Thank you, Kathi

Kathi:
As I recall, several years ago there was an effort to replace plastic drain lines with pipes that would not emit toxic fumes during a fire. But in regard to the specifics of your question, I have not heard of any situation requiring plumbing or pipe replacement.
If you would be kind enough to provide additional details (why the plumbing needs replacement, the manufacturer(s) involved) I will try to learn more about this this matter. Thanks.

Re: plumbing
Go to http://www.pbpipe.com. If your house has polybutylene pipe (Not PEX which has fittings that look like a ring of the pipe itself and is very, very good. It also says Pex on the pipe and is probably clear) was plumbed between 1978 and 1995 and bought after 1999 (Why I do not know, seems like a way out of paying more claims) there is a class action lawsuit because the stuff has a tendency towards catostrophic failure. Apparently the makers put 995 million towards initial funding of a settlement not long ago and the money is already practically gone. Good luck.
