need recomendation for good set-up crew

Post by Dan F » Tue Jun 25, 2002 5:56 pm

I am in the north bay area CA just west of Sacramento. Does anyone have a recomendation for a set up contractor in this area. I am not so happy with the bid my dealer quoted me for set up its 44,000 with a 20x20 garage. this is for a 40x48 home on a reasonably flat lot with a stemwall foundation. not including permits!

Dan:
Just a word of caution: If you use your own set crew make sure your manufacturer's warranty is not affected, and make sure the set crew you use is competent and reliable. Should you encounter a problem later that is caused by a faulty installation, and if you can't find that set crew, your home warranty will likely be void and you'll end up paying for the set a second time, not to mention the cost of correcting possible damage that may occur.
Sorry this sounds grim, but I'm just trying to point out things you should consider before deciding on the course you're eyeing.

thanks for the word of caution, I am looking for a licenced contractor with good references hence the post. Where I am located, as long as the home is set up according to code, the manufacturer must honor the warranty. I am seeking a recomendation for an honest crew. I spoke with a very reputable company that is so good they are booked for three months and can't do my job, they were very candid about the quote the Dealer gave me. They also recomended I not use this particular dealers set up crew. this is also why I am seeking help.

Tough info request for this GA boy to answer...My best advise would be for you to consider a 3000 mile commute from the great SE...where this work can be done for around 16K...Oh well...the commute is probably not much longer than the average commute on CA interstates...Smile...

Your best source of info might be the local building inspector...They see everyone's work and might be able to help with a local crew...Beyond that...the only other advice I can think of is to ride around and spot fairly new homes in the area...Stop and ask the home owners (or look up their phone numbers in a reverse directory...City directories come to mind..and call them)...about their experience and who did their work...

Good Luck...wish I could help more..
