Short answer is no. Pre-owned homes abound these days at big discounts. Water causes a lot of damage, much of which is difficult to see.

Piers are adequate. Make sure there are enough of them and that they are in the right places. Friendship require piers every 8' which is more than most manufacturers require. You want the R50 and the R21. Also consider a 90%+ high efficiency furnace. Friendship is known for solid construction. They are necessary in most cases. If in doubt, do it. More support is a good thing. Many in the industry have resisted door piers, because there is a cost involved. The plastic MUST be removed from between the two halves. That may well be the cause of your problem. Failure to remove the plastic creates severe condensation issues in cold weather. While the marriage walls are not insulated, there MUST be insulation placed between the marriage walls at the ceiling...
