Re: new and confused buyer - a few questions! :)

I highly recommend you buy and read both of Grissom's books before you even start looking for a home. That way you will know what to look for in both a home and a dealership. 2) As for the extras, I fully agree with Murray. You can always find good used furniture at garage, moving, and estate sales ...

Re: Colorodo title problem

Did you have a lawyer at your closing? Did you purchase title insurance at your closing? If so, contact the attorney and the title company. If you did not have a closing you might want to contact a lawyer as it looks like you are going to need one.

Re: buying a water damaged home

I'd run away from this "deal." For 80k you can get a new home. Not that size or manufacturer but a decent home. Then there are a lot of good used homes out there. No, I'd pass on this, especially considering the mold issue. Oh and if the floors are Novladeck or Cresdeck instead of OSB or p...

Re: Improvements and Taxes

Depending on where you live, your income, and your age, you may be able to freeze the assessment on your property. For example; I live in Bossier Parish (county) Louisiana, am over 65, with an income of less than $60,000.00 a year. In 2010 I was able to freeze my property tax at $250 a year, which w...

Re: prices

slagenour, I highly recommend you get and read the books David mentioned above. $130k is a very large amount of money and the price you pay for the books can save you a lot of money and heartache. My wife and I spent an enormous amount of time researching and visiting different dealerships before we...

Re: Manufactured home for the cold north..is Friendship it?

If 2x6 exterior walls and dual pane vinal windows are not standard, I would absolutely upgrade to them and get the maximum insulation package they offer. Even down here in the South that is a good idea as it helps keep down air conditioning costs.

Josette, Great thing you got the inspection. If it were me. I'd walk away from the deal but as Murray said if you like the place that much set a reasonable date to get the work done and another inspection to make sure the work was done right. However, if the place has been on the market for 4 years ...

danton - You don't want a dealer to far away as it can present problems with service after the sale. I highly recommend the book that David mentioned above. My wife and I read the book thoroughly before deciding on what home to purchase and what dealer to use. Good luck to you and happy house hunting.
