You might want to contact local dealers and ask what they do with the pull outs when they do upgrades? Some of the pullouts are still very nice, and livable homes that someone outgrew for one reason or another.

Different states have different laws with regard to estates and gifts and such. It may be that the state thought you were gifting half to your other... I hope you put 5% down on opening escrow, and have all your inspections done, and then make the balance due at the closing of escrow, especially if any of the downpayment is non-refundable.
