Plumber

How do I go about finding a plumber that will work on mobile homes? Am I going to have the same difficulty finding a contractor to repair a water-damaged room (ceiling, wall, and floor)? A lot of stuff I can do myself, but most plumbing and some of the construction stuff--such as the ceiling--is out...

Re: A/C Question

I have a smaller Palm Harbor than you have (approx 1500 sf), but when I bought it new, I upgraded to a 5 ton A/C unit. (We're in Texas, and last summer we had 71 days of 100º+ days, including 2 of 112º--officially--the thermometer in the barn read 118º and the one on the front porch said 122º!) When...

Re: Replacing Garden Tub w/Custom Shower

Belated thanks for the thoughtful (and helpful) response! Haven't gotten this project done yet, been wrestling with others--more to do with repairing and upgrading the horse barn than the house! I am beginning to look into this one, though.

Re: re-routing existing drains & water lines to replace tub with a shower bigger then a coffin

I've been wanting to do exactly the same thing to my garden tub! It's rarely used, and it takes 6 to 8 hours to drain when it is used, so I'm wondering what they did (maybe leave out that vent) to make it drain so slowly. Haven't looked under the tub yet, because the project is a while away still. I...

Re: Windows in a doublewide

Can you install standard home windows in a DB home? I really don't like most of the mobile home specific windows, and would like to add a bay window to the dining room. Is that possible without major support additions or other details I don't know to ask about?

Replacing Garden Tub w/Custom Shower

I have a 1999 DB (Palm Harbor) with a nasty garden tub. (It's in the afternoon sun and has turned a truly hideous yellow/grey shade on the sun-exposed surfaces.) I have used it twice (the plumbing was done incorrectly, I guess, and it takes literally hours to drain, plus our water pressure isn't gre...
