Re: Repo Homes
I ended up buying a used repo home...a 99 Cavalier Brigadier 14x80 metal on metal. I had the roof vents painted and the roof cool sealed with the white rubber stuff good for supposedly 10 years or more. The guy did a great job. I had the new manufactured home dealers call me to see what I had done. ...

Re: Why is our insurance so expensive?
I am in a park and have replacement value insurance...lucky to get it on older homes in NC. I pay $450 yearly. That is based on a home of $45000 plus $$10000 contents and $1000 on shed. Seems you got a good deal to me too.

Re: Is 55,000 Too Much For A Singlewide?
I was informed that Clayton has bought out Cavalier as well! They got Oakwoor and lots of good brands! I also found out that the arbitration agreements are common-place now. They just set up a new Cavalier in the park across from me. I may check with them to see how well it holds up. Anybody have an...

Re: Buying from a private seller
Depends on whether you are buying a home in a park or on land. Park transactions like buying a car. Have a home inspection done unless and possibly even if you are sure it has no unknown problems. If financing and you can get a loan other than a signature loan it will likely have to be appraised. Be...

Re: what's it like to live in a mobile home park?
Just like anywhere else...people are people wherever you go. Some parks are nicer than others in regards of the park maintenance and rules enforcement. A mobile home requires maintenance to be kept in good condition, so you need to be prepared for that. Hope that helps.

Re: Is 55,000 Too Much For A Singlewide?
I went out looking today as a back up to my plans to buy a used 99 Cavalier/Brigadier. It is set up, metal on metal, like new in and out, one owner, heatpump etc. It is $9500. I went to an independent dealer and saw a new Cavalier with sheetrock throughout. Nice home...workmanship seemed pretty good...

Re: Cavalier Single Wides
I noticed that in the homes I saw..they were loose and "peeling off" too. Kind of makes you wonder how the wallboards stay put. The traditional strips don't bother me at all.

Repo Homes
There is a retailer of repo homes near me and I have gone looking at them from time to time. I noticed quite a bit of common problems with them. The singlewides often had wallboard damage from water along the floor line. Sheetrock would be squishy and soft...even gone in chunks. Floors would often h...

Re: Fleetwood-bankruptcy
I posted somewhere on here how good Fleetwood was to me...warranty work after six years of ownership. The dealer was awful...Fleetwood tried hard to make things right..even when they legally did not have to. Any company that does that deserves to make it. My plant was Pembroke NC.
