HUD missed the deadline

As of today, the HUD installation program is still about 1 year from taking place. And when it does, it won't help much as manufacturers wrote the installation program and all it will do is blame the installer. It is possible that Utah has their own installation program, independent of HUD. If not, ...

Re: hanging from center beam?

Your center beam could be anything from 2 x 6 lumber, or larger or maybe microlam engineered beams, or made from mutiple lawyers of glued up plywood. Bottom line, the manufacturers don't build these beams heavier then they need to.So to be safe, DON'T HANG ANYTHING FROM YOUR CENTER LINE BEAM!

Re: Skirting Replacement

Your anchors should not be installed in the concrete footings. I know many installers do, but that is not how the anchors are designed and if the installer used J hooks, how was the concrete re-enforced? As far as holding capacity, to reach the required 4750 lbs, you would need to have 1 1/4 yards o...

Re: Any experiences?

I inspected them for the government contractor that inspects manufactured home factories. There were not too many plants that did a good job, but for the most part, Palm Harbor did. except the plant in or around Arlington TX. they were bad.

From my experience, Palm Harbor is one of the most reputable manufacturers out there. They do try to be fair!

Re: quality of manufacturing

I know both plants first hand, Neither is exceptional, both are OK. If you are looking for a middle of the road home, they are fine. But don't except a high end home.

Re: MH newbie, need new tub

To determine if the tub was a jacuzzi, look for an electrical recept in the platform. A jacuzzi would need this plug. I would make a quick call to the manufacturer and just ask what brand of tub they used. Or go to a dealer that sells that home, they can get you a tub. Installation is not hard, foll...

totally disagree

Any home, including a manufactured home should be supported in a manner that will not settle. Sounds like a bad installation. You need piers with footings that are on stable ground, this means they needed to dig holes in the earth. the floor needed lagged together and certain peirs needed to be inst...

Re: putting a mh on a basement

Is the home provided with a Residential frame or a Perimeter Frame? if not, don't put it on a basement. Does the home have a factory provided basement entry in the floor? Where are marriage wall support areas? Does the home require any vertical tie Downs? How will the home be attached to the foundat...
