Re: 2nd home will be manufactured too
Most plants can and will "knock off" any floor plan for a price, it's realy not that difficult,The HUD standards can easily be met by only the minimum requirements. I have been involved in many "stripped down" customer ready houses that only have the minimum to meet the standards...

I don't believe there is a generic answer to your question. I would start with HCD. I have dealt with HCD a few times and they answered my questions quickly, it may not have been what I wanted to hear but they did respond.

As rmurray stated make sure the company is aware that you wish to advance with the company and that you have skills that will benefit the company. If you want to advance don't blend in, you need to stand out. Depending on what direction you want to go, in our industry it is generally not required th...

Re: attic ventilation
Mechanical roof venting is fairly common in HUD units, the two most common systems being Nordyne's Vent-aire and Coleman's Blend Air.Your retailer will be able to supply you with the manufacturer's specifications on how these sysytems work. Both Nordyne and Coleman have specification pamphlets availa...

Re: Pedestal Sinks
To get the proper look, the plumbing needs to be in the wall, a big problem will be the venting, if the existing lavy's are vented with an ASD or AAV type vent instead of a conventional vent stack you will not get the look you want. Also consider the attachment points at the wall, you will need to as...

Re: Drywall
Any roof penetration will leak if not properly flashed, skylights may seem to be plagued with this more so than other penetrations, but then a skylight leak is almost instantly identified as the water will be dripping on the floor instead of the ceiling cavity. I have seen skylights not leak after 2...

Re: Manufactured to Modular
I agree with rmurray, if you do replace the unit I would NOT put a frame-on mod also known as "hudular" on the site. Frame-on's can come with negative baggage in some areas and besides insurance companies, I have had more than one local AHJ state "if it has frame, it's a Mobile Home, ...

Re: hac in Solitaire
What you describe sounds like you have a duct leak, that is discharging into the floor cavity, assuming of course that you have floor ducts and not overheads. Damaged or missing bottom board/belly paper may also contribute as this allows air to enter the floor cavity. Penetrations from or through th...
