Re: Value of Karsten Home
Thank you David. Now for the "rest of the story". After all the headaches and heartaches, paperwork, phone calls, etc. the County Assessor admitted to making a mistake. He uses the square footage to calculate the value for tax purposes and somehow entered 3600 Sq. Ft. instead of 1860 Sq. F...

Value of Karsten Home
To all the nay-sayers out there who think Manufactured Homes only depreciate in value, this one takes the cake. We bought a Karsten Home in August 2008, paid $138,100.00 (this includes the setup, permanent foundation, etc). Today I received the 2009 Notice of Value from the Quay County Assessor's Of...

Re: Data Plate Question
rmurray. I appreciate the well wishes. I mailed a Certified letter this morning to the dealer so we will see what happens next. Fortunately I have documented everything since day 1 with this dealer and it's great to be able to look back and tell them on what date they told me what. Of course this wi...

Re: Data Plate Question
rmurray.....You are good. We are in New Mexico. We purchased the new Karsten home through Homes Direct of Albuquerque. The dealership and factory are on the same property. They did the furnace switch there at the factory and then delivered the home on August 25, 2008. We acutally did not move into t...

Data Plate Question
I noticed that the manufacturer's data plate posted inside the pantry shows I have a Nordyne gas furnace. I happen to have an electric furnace. I pulled the panel off the furnace and took a look. It's a Mortex electric furnace. I had also noticed that the lights in the house seem to dim every time t...

Re: KARSTEN HOMES
As info, we did a "Pit Set" and the house is permanently set. We have the Hardi panel siding and a metal roof. Only a small area for "skirting" as the house sits much lower then most MH. Wish I could post a picture on here and you could see how it looks. Maybe someone could tell ...

Re: KARSTEN HOMES
The Karsten Company is now owned by Clayton Homes and both are owned by Berkshire-Hathaway (Warren Buffet). We just bought a Karsten. It is top of the line, but the options can run you way over budget. Unfortunately the dealership, Homes Direct of Albuquerque, caused us more problems than I could po...

Re: First time buyer lots of questions
Jessicao, Be very careful with your options, etc. Just bought a Karsten, chose options trying to stay within our budget. When you get to the contract part, you find out there's an additional $3500 for the air conditioner and then of course there is sales tax. They never mentioned "site prep&quo...

Re: MH manufacturers
rmurray: I am so sorry and apologize to you. I had no way of knowing. I hope I do not offend anyone else. How about if I describe MH Dealerships as "insurance salesmen who prey on the elderly"? There are exceptions and a few honest folks out there. If these people I've been dealing with we...

Homes Direct of Albuquerque
I would like to hear from people who have purchased manufactured homes through Homes Direct of Albuquerque. Was it a good or bad experience? I would be interested in hearing about your experience.
Thanks.
Thanks.
