Re: Cautionary tale
David, Do you feel better now? Consider me scolded. I am not a child, I am a mature adult and frankly resent your tone and how you have all but ignored all the improper, illegal things the seller did and choose instead to reprimand me. I sold a brick townhouse that I had lived in for 15 years becaus...

Re: Cautionary tale
David, Thanks for your response. It's more than "unfortunate" it's reprehensible. I have always dealth in an honest, ethical way with everyone I have done business with. This should not be acceptable in any way shape or form. Unfortunately for this particular company they sold to me. They ...

Cautionary tale
I've been a member of this site for quite some time and although I seldom post I thought I would share a nightmare that I am currently experiencing with a 1993 Colony DW that I purchased in August 2007. Due to my deteriorating health last Spring I had made the decision to sell this home and purchase...

Re: Inviting Flooring Material Suggestions
Hi, When I bought my home in 2007 I did not like the sheet vinyl flooring that was in my huge kitchen, it was an old ugly pattern. I had "vinyl plank" flooring installed that has a wood look to it. I LOVE IT! I got mine at Home Depot and I can't remember the manufactured but I remember it ...

Re: Cost of the steel sub frame
Not sure where you are located, but I do know this much, if you are in Howard County, Maryland or perhaps other counties as well, you'd better have anchors that go 30" below the frost line. It will not be issued a permit nor pass inspection otherwise. This law has been on the books now for seve...

Re: Manufactured home on top of existing home
I might be a bit late, but feel compelled to also respond. Be careful, be very, very careful. I am currently in the midst of a contentious legal battle with the sellers of my home that I'm just learning did NOT have the proper permits or inspections required by my county. And their failure to disclo...

Re: Who bears cost of releveling on a rented lot? & other issues
Just an update on this horrendous situation. Further investigation shows that I am in fact a Class Member, of which there are hundreds of us. The attorneys that handled the Class Action suit have all the documents on their site which includes a Claim Form to be filed by 10/2011. I just filed mine. B...

Re: Who bears cost of releveling on a rented lot? & other issues
Thanks for the input. I don't have an issue per se with the $350 estimate so much as it is the open ended language "if home needs to be jacked up, or other work performed there will be additional cost." I'm not writing them a blank check. It gets better folks. Further research indicates th...

Who bears cost of releveling on a rented lot? & other issues
I began to notice that recently the door to my son's bedroom & his closets are not closing properly. I suspected that it might be a leveling issue, so I wrote a letter to the park management. She sent me a response advising that she would prepare a "work ticket" and someone would come ...

Re: cash purchase
Hi David, Any transaction that is done with paper, i.e., deposits, checks, wire transfer forms, etc., thereby creating a trail with paper that follows the money. That could be any type of check, e.g., personal, business, cashiers etc. Wire transfers also have a paper trail. For purposes of this foru...
