Manufactured Homes for the disabled

Can you tell me of any manufacturers that specialize in building homes for the disabled. I ask on behalf of my parents who now live in western Kentucky (Madisonville) and are having difficulty finding a local builder who has experience with the specialized needs of severly disabled people who want and need some measure of independence. The special design features needed are extra-wide doorways for wheelchairs, accessible cabinets and countertops, roll-in showers for wheelchairs, accessible shelves and storage, etc. we are looking particulalry for dealers in Kentucky or southern Indiana but any that you know about would help. Thank you for any help you might give us. allen lowe

Nearest manufacturer to you is Craftmade Homes from South GA...I am sure they have dealer in KY..If not a local dealer might be able to get one...

http://www.craftmade-homes.com/

The other nationally know builder is Turtle Homes..but they are in KS and freight might a a little high..

Both of these are truly handicap accessible homes..there are many others who will make some changes to accommodate some problems...

Good Luck
